Is it a good idea to tighten up my transmission bands?even tho they have probably never been tighten the entire life of the trans (I've only owned it a year) I have the 46 re

 

Yes , proper adjustment of the bands is considered maintenance . You can do it 100 times as it should always be the same setting anyways . I consider it the same as checking the torque on the wheels . 180k on my jeep 46RE and it's been done twice by me . I would consider a 50K interval between adjustments good maintenance . Few ever get done
