I have a 4.7 Dakota with two wire ignition coil and I keep getting the same ignition coil circuit open code, I’ve moved wiring and wiggled it around and fixes nothing and all continuity test pass I have 12v at the coil for 3 seconds after I turn the key on. I know the two ignition coil wires are bare and touched for a second but surely that didn’t short the pin on the pcm, truck still starts and runs fine except that

because in all the forums I’ve looked at this is the first that’s even close to having the same issues. I’ve looked and looked. Didn’t realize it was gonna be that big of a difference for a DODGE Dakota and a DODGE ram that use the same motors trannys, computers wiring harness

2nd gens never got the 4.7......

Bringing up a 10 year old thread is a violation of forum etiquette. More often than not, the folks posting in decade old threads aren't even around any more.

What YEAR is your truck? A fair bit changed over the years..... so yes, it makes a difference......

I understand there is a difference. But the to test the wire is what I was asking about. Shouldn’t change from vehicle. It’s an 01 4.7 the code is the same as well

Do you only have one coil? Or is it one per cylinder.
