You guys a are a great help. Also I'm getting a good deal right? 1300 isn't bad for a nv4500, tcase, 3/4 ton rears, and the rest of the truck. It only has 64,000 on it. I drove the truck a little bit and it seems solid. Just won't have the motor. Maybe I can get him to throw in the pcm for some extra.
Is it rotted ugly or rotted unsafe? I'm just thinking it would be sorta cool if you could get a whole running/driving truck, lol.
They do make a conversion u joint. The part number escapes me.
Your computer will throw codes but shouldn't effect drivability of the truck.
My only problem is when I'm coasting and push the clutch in looking to downshift it will die unless I just tap the gas pedal a little bit. Not sure if that's specific to a problem I have or the fact that the auto pcm expects the torque converter to drag the engine and help maintain rpms?
I have heard of this downshifting issue before. Doesn't seem like a big deal at all
Update:
Well the guy doesn't wanna pull the motor now. So I'm buying the whole damn thing for 1800 bucks. Seems like a good deal. Gonna sell that good 5.9 for 500 bucks to get some money back. Hopefully 3-400 in scrap (it has a big utility body on it). I wouldn't mind making a build thread on this. Lots of pics for everyone haha.
What clutch do you guys recommend? I don't tow anything really heavy. My dirt bikes and maybe someone's car once a year.
Still not sure on the whole computer thing. If I should use the pcm out of the donor truck or what. Some people say I need to get it flashed and do all this and that. I don't care if my engine lights on for the auto trans stuff just as long as the truck runs. Oh and also, pilot bushing or pilot bearing? Both are cheap so it doesn't matter to me. Also found the clutch kit for $117.00. Which is way cheap. I'm ready to start tearing into this mother
Went and paid for the truck. I'm gonna pull the auto out of my truck this weekend and have it ready to go. Hopefully I'll have the donor truck Sunday. I'm gonna start a build thread with pictures and step by step updates. Hopefully help a few people out of they plan on doing a swap. Thanks for your help guys!
Here's my real mobile btw.
