Default mopar combustion cleaner

Hi everyone. After i fixed the plenum on my 98 1500 5.2 I finally got around to using mopar combustion chamber cleaner (P/N 04318001AD) and wanted to share my experience.

i used 2 cans and found directions at a jeep forum.

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/mopar-combustion-chamber-cleaner-mpg-increase-363613/#/forumsite/20623/topics/363613

I checked compression just to see if there was any difference...well in my test there was a little difference. Before i started i made sure engine was brought up to temp and checked compressionon all cylinders

Before
1 - 127 2 - 119
3 - 128 4 - 115
5 - 124 6 - 118
7 - 128 8 - 129

After
1 - 127 2 - 128
3 - 129 4 - 127
5 - 128 6 - 129
7 - 130 8 - 130

Now im not exactly sure on the accuracy of the numbers bescause i dont have the best gauge but thats what it looked like to me.

I also looked into the cylinders through the spark plug hole and noticed that it really did clear a good amount of carbon (off the piston tops anyway) as there was caked on carbon before and now i can see bare metal. I dont have pictures cuz i honestly didnt think about that i would be posting this up. Anyway Mopar combustion chamber cleaner will definately get some more use in my truck.

I prefer it over seafoam . Through the TB provides better even dispersion . You're not dumping in a lot all at once , and you can clean your TB at the same time . Works great on IACs too .

I used it on a motor that was too far gone once . I disassembled it after , it was evident it did it's job , the pistons were very clean considering . Also used it to clean my plenum when apart , worked great for that too .

And where are you finding MCCC? It was discontinued many years ago according to several dealerships I checked. I agree, it worked great when I could get it, but I've used Seafoam for that past seven or so years.

That stuff is really good.

The kits we use now are fantastic, (05174566AA) but you need an apparatus to run it through the fuel system.

I actually had picked it up last week at a local dealership after i called several others but make sure you tell them the part number . I had better success at locating it using the part number. It was around $8 plus tax.

I also have seen it online but your also paying for S&H

Our local Dodge dealership sells the MCC for around 9 bucks a can. That was a a year or two ago. Prefer it to seafoam.
