Need a bit more info as others have asked for. What condition is the plenum and ignition system(cap&rotor, wires)?

Is the plug wire routing per the TSB?

Another cause of backfire (intake and/or exhaust) is a failing crank position sensor... this is hard to faultfind/confirm, so check/eliminate other potential causes first.
