Default 46RE - What kind of shift kit?

.
Okay. The Ram is over at the local Aamco, starting the rebuild. I want to add in a shift kit to help extend the life of the tranny. But, I know nothing about them, and need to know what to have them install. Our truck already has a cooler, and I plan on adding in a A-pillar pod w/ a trans temp gauge, as well as a deeper pan.

So, for the 46RE, what shift kit do you all recommend? The Aamco guy says the 'kit' can be as simple as leaving a ball bearing out, or shims and spacers... to something more involved. I found some talk of a TransGo kit, which sounded like a reprogrammer.

Need some help quick, so I can let them know what we want. Our truck (2500) has the 5.9 Gas and we plan on using it to haul our jeep on a trailer.

I own an '01 4X4 5.9L with a 46RE. I purchased Transgo shift kit TRG-TFOD-518 from Summit, and handed it to my mechanic to install it. He says that this part is for some Jeep tranny, and that he now has to cut off parts of both shafts to make it fit. WTH

Is this the correct PN for the 46RE?
