Normal IAT reading?

Default Normal IAT reading?

Can anyone tell me what a normal intake air temperature reading should be, with respect to the ambient air temperature? I've been trying to sort out an intermittent performance issue, and I think I have determined the main culprit was the throttle position sensor (which I replaced last weekend), but in the process of monitoring sensors, I've noticed my intake air temperature seems to be high. For instance, today was in the mid-60s (Fahrenheit), but the IAT readings were 120 degrees or higher. Last summer, the IAT seemed to consistently read 160 degrees or higher (ambient air temperature usually between 80 and 90). I have no idea if that's normal, but to me it seems excessively high.

Can anyone who has a scanner tell me what their IAT output tends to be?

Thanks!

The IAT is always going to read higher than the ambient air temperature because its mounted in the intake manifold, and the intake manifold heats up from the normal engine heat. Some have relocated the IAT to the air intake tube so it can read the cooler air coming into the engine.

From memory, the IAT reading dropped by 50°F when moving the sensor from the keg to the CAI tube.
There was no notable change in performance associated with the IAT sensor move.
