Right track with plenum, heads, & cat?

No, he did not say where it was leaking to, only that it was definitely an issue in the top end. I wasn't in the best frame of mind to ask more probing questions, as I had been sick during this time. I do know that the compression on #8 was about 60#.

Ouch. Did he test all cylinders? Can you get the numbers?

Yes, he did test all cylinders, but did not give me the numbers for each of them. He said that "all the others checked out great." He did explain that he likes to see numbers around 160#, but uses 120# as a minimum to say a cylinder is ok.

Ok, that's reasonable.

Sounds like the bottom end *should* be ok then.

First find out why you have low compression on the #8 cylinder, second the head bolts are TTY that is Torque To Yield "TTY", one time use and need to replaced also, the intake manifold is also TTY, you can get from Hughes also with the plenum plate and gaskets in one order.
