Default 46RE Transmission over heating

I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.9L 4x4 with a 46re transmission. I rebuilt the transmission 2 years ago and has ran great since recently. the truck will drive great until about 15 min down the road, when the truck is warmed up and the overdrive will turn off and shortly after that the trans temp light will come on and it stays in limp mode until its cooled down...ive replaced the radiator because the transmission cooler is in the radiator. i replaced the wiring harness on the valve body 3 times and I have replaced the engine coolant temp sensor, and i have removed the checkball in the transmission cooling line and anfter i put everything back together it still turns the overdrive off and is still acting like the transmission is overheating and the transtemp light comes on shortly after the overdrive turns off. any ideas?

Trans temp sensor in the transmission. This is for a 2000 but i think the older ones had it on top of the valve body.

I have replaced that, and it still is throwing the overdrive off and shortly after the trans temp light comes on.

Put a gauge on it, or get an IR thermometer, see what the temp is really doing.

How is your band adjustment? Did you have any work done, or do any work to the truck before this problem presented itself? How does the EXTERNAL wiring look?

What do you mean a gauge? Where would I hook one up at? What exactly would I have to do? And the band adjustment should be fine I took it to a transmission shop and when I first start it up and drove it he said it runs beautifully and he thinks it's something electrical... the outside wiring looks ok, normal wear on it I could disconnect the connections Clean them and re connect them

So much for that thought.....

When you say your replaced the wiring harness IN the trans, did you replace the pressure sensor as well? (temp sensor is part of it.)

Wonder if the harness is shorted to voltage somewhere after the trans...... time to check wiring? (although, why it takes 15 minutes to show itself, is a real mystery.)
