Default Can't start when rain or high moisture

I have a 2001 ram 1500 5.2 v8 when it rains or has high moisture truck takes a long time start so I thought it was the distributor cap and when I pulled the cap off one of the screws broke off in the distributor so I picked up a new distributor with cap And rotor put it in and still having the same problems my next step is new wires and plugs but I don't won't to just keep putting parts in any suggestions on want to try

First, download FSM, you will need it, full of good info, free to download from this forum. Second, get an ohm meter and check the coil. Sounds like it has a crack in it . Or look for bad grounds.

The one part that most hates moisture, and particularly high humidity and low temperatures, is the IAC (Idle Air Controller). You might try cleaning the bore on the throttle body into which the IAC pintle fits, but be darn sure not to twist, push, pull, or otherwise molest the pintle while the IAC is out. Just clean the end of the thing very, very carefully without disturbing its peaceful repose.

FSM = Factory Service Manual. Look here for it. It's worth its weight in... well, it doesn't weigh anything, so skip that part. It's good to have.

Get the FSM then make a backup of it. Then another backup. I have a copy on my phone so I will have it with me at all times.

Plug wires are notorious for disliking wet conditions as well.
