I might see about getting a brand new battery. If that doesn't work I thought about disconnecting the alternator from the pcm and adding an external regulator. What's the thoughts on that?

If stabbing in the dark is your thing, then you might just as well do it. If not, troubleshooting is in order. You'll need a multimeter and DC current clamp, and there are test procedures called out in the factory service manual.

If testing proves conclusively that your voltage regulator is hosed, then the external regulator is the right thing to do.

Check grounds on the PCM.

I would listen to Unregistered and do the troubleshooting.

You can get the service manual by following this link: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...e-manuals.html
Then pick the year for your truck and download it. Follow the troubleshooting guide and see what you get. Then come on back and let us know.
