15" wheels on 2001 1500
Does anyone know or have you used a 15" rim on a 2001 1500 4x4 ram.
Are there any issues that would prohibit the use of this wheel.
Want to buy new wheels and tires and 15's are so much cheaper
Thanks

from what i hear.... the smalles you can go is a 16... a 15 is just a little small and scrapes and rubs the calipers... i cant confirm that b/c i got 16s on mine..never tried to go smaller... hope this helps.
I have 15" wheels on my 01 4x4 and they don't rub. It looks as if they are very very close (about 1/8" or less) but no rubbage. I've had the wheels on and off couple times to check and there are no scrape marks. I've been told it can depend on the brand of wheels also, so if you could test one that may be helpful. My brand is "Unique" but "Crager" also has the same style I have so I really don't know the exact manufacturer. I went with 15"s for the same reason you are considering them, the tires are a lot cheaper for some reason.
Some 15" rims will rub...some won't. The two places they will rub are the calipers and the tie-rod ends. You will have to test fit a rim to see if any rubbing will occur.
awesome...good info... ill keep that inmind when i shop for my offroad tires this spring... 15" tires are cheeper i think b/c there the most common ... its a common style for offroad lifted trucks.. more rubber less rim type of thinking... this is only assumption....and assumption is the mother of all f-ckups...
I have 15's on mine. The brand is Modern I think and when I first got them only the left side rubbed. I had to grind some material off the caliper to make the rubbing stop. A month ago I changed the front brake pads, after the change the right side started to rub as well so I had to take the grinder to that one too. I think I might go back to 16's in the near future since I don't like how close the wheels are to my calipers. If I had the money though I think I would put some 35's on a set of 20's...
