Default Axle issues

Alright were do i start i have a 2000 5.9l v8 1500 sport 4x4
i recently had to replace the right front axle shaft with u joint actuator and actuator housing. now my left front u joint is cracked from being rusty what good parts are out there.should i just do the whole left axle shaft? as well as how hard it would be to do it myself.

If you did the right side, the left side is pretty much the same, just don't have the CAD to deal with. If one side of the axle is broken where the joint saddles are, I would be REAL tempted to just replace the whole thing, to avoid having to do this job again..... Could prolly pick one up from a junkyard fairly cheap, put in a new joint, and then just swap 'em out.

Use spicer u joints only! All others will fail and you will be replacing them again. If the yokes are ok you can just replace the u joint.

Ooops, read that as the AXLE being cracked.... Must of been too early in the morning.

the u joint is what cracked i might just do the whole axle shaft because it`s got some rust on it i bought it about a year ago and i wouldn't want for it to happen again im not a great mechanic so ill have to look in to how much work in takes to do it ill decide if i would take it to someone but thanks for the in put
