trying to figure out why my tranny is gear hunting trying to go into 3rd, the 1st to 2nd shift is nice and firm and then most of the time itll hang out at 2000rpm for a bit or till i let off then go into 3rd. You can tell there is a significant power loss from it hanging on that shift. seems to not be as bad when i accelerate faster or onto the freeway. im wondering if maybe my tv cable is off or i need a band adjustment. It sucks cause as soon as red is in 3rd, she hauls ***. what am i missing?

 

Certainly wouldn't hurt to do a fluid/filter change, and band adjustment. Also, verify the TV cable is adjusted properly. If that doesn't seem to cut it, might be time to replace governor pressure sensor/solenoid. While you are doing the fluid/filter change, pull 'em, and see what they look like. Solenoid is NOT self cleaning, so, eventually gets crudded up, and stops working right.

 

right...i replaced the gps and transducer about 10k miles ago and did a fluid/filter change. however i don't think i adjusted the bands or tv cable, so that might be the issue...ill look into, gotta get me a torque wrench for those bands.
