I do not know how to word this but when i'm at a stop light and i'm in drive or 2 it won't move all that happens is the engine revs up i have to downshift into 1st an upshift and sometimes i can't even move in 1st unless i have the pedal all the way to the floor could it be my shift linkage to my tranny or is it the whole tranny

Check fluid level first. Have to check it in neutral, park won't give an accurate reading.
if fluid level is ok, crawl under the truck from the drivers side, about halfway back, on that side of the trans, there will be an 8-pin connector. Unplug it. (yes, this will annoy the pcm, and turn on the CEL.)
Go for a drive. Keep in mind, you won't have ANY automatic functions in your trans at all. You will have to shift it manually. (so, don't go far.....) Try all three gears as you accelerate. (you won't have O/D, or TCC lockup, as those are purely electronically controlled by the PCM.)
If the trans shifts good, when you tell it to, then you just have an electronic problem. If the trans still slips, and does odd things, time for a rebuild.
