Default frame rust prevention?

hey guys, i have searched all over and found alot of information but cant find any current discussions on "helping" rust that has allready started. the trucks a 97 1500 4x4, its been in nw pa for the past 8 years and the frame has taken a beating, i have tried products like fluid film, and wd40 which looks like is helping but the frame is soaking it in over time. last august i sprayed a gallon of film under the truck and today it doesn't look like i did anything. my question is there any other economical products or procedures that will slow the rusting. im thinking of having it oiled this year to see if that would help but kind of fearing the mess it leaves. normal undercoating is a waste because it just flakes off from the rust. the frame has no holes and feels strong and i have allready replaced the rockers, doors, floors and fenders. i just want to get ahead of the frame before its too late. thanks for any help in advance

You might have a look at a product called POR-15. It's popular for ground-up restorations.

You can use products like POR-15 or rust converters but the best way is to get rid of it completely. Sand blast the frame and use a good epoxy primer on it.

Moparite's suggestion would definitely work for you!

I just had POR-15 applied to the under side of my truck. It was sanded down to bare metal first to get rid of any existing rust then POR-15 was applied.

POR-15 can be painted right on rust. Just knock the loose stuff off. And ittl penetrate a certainn thickness of rust and kill it. It does stand for "paint of rust" after all lol

I knocked off the loose rust first, then neutralized the rust a bit with some phosphoric acid, washed it off and let the frame dry well. I then used a product called ZeroRust (similar to POR-15) and painted it onto the frame and axles. It is holding up well and I'm very happy with it.

I used a product called Chassis Saver paint on the underside of my mower deck. It is a cheaper alternative to POR-15, and it is some tough stuff. It won't even sandblast off.
