Default New cylinder heads NEED HELP!!!

Hey guys!

I am new to this forum looking for some help with my truck. So here it is I have a 97 ram 1500 with a 3.9l v6 it has just over 94,000. long story short I had to put new cylinder heads on the truck because had 3 broken exhaust bolts and someone tried to help me and made my bad situation worse.

On to my current problem I put the new heads on and got everything all back together with no issues until I started the truck I had some valve train noise that was never there with my old heads. Sounded very sloppy and loose. I took the rockers and push rods back out last night and re torqued them back to the 21ft pounds it calls for. (I did put the push rods and rockers back in there original order) the truck still sounds the same way. Best way to describe it is loose and sloppy not really bad but the sound is there and it was not there with my old heads.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Pull a valve cover, check on closed valves to see if things are indeed loose. Things aren't adjustable, so, if you find that they are...... gonna have to look and see if there is some reason for it, or, go to some adjustable rockers.

HeyYou Can you explain? what do you mean by "check on closed valves to see if things are indeed loose"

Also should there be a gap between the rocker arm and the valve spring at all?

Thanks!

Pull a valve cover, take a look at valves that are closed. See if you can move the rocker, spin the pushrod with your fingers, whathaveyou.

I wonder if the bosses the rocker bolts go into, aren't just a hair shade too tall, thus, throwing off your valvetrain geometry.

Are the "new" heads actually new(never used)? Or rebuilt new? Are they Chrysler heads or aftermarket? If they are Chrysler heads check the casting # and see if they are the same as your old ones.
