Or what you can do is get an orbital sander or DA sander, go over the whole truck with 80 grit. Basically get it ready for a real paint job, maybe a little rougher, and Scorpion-Liner or Monstaliner it. Can't scratch bedliner, looks better than rattlecan. Herculiner is crap too btw. Scorpion-Liner or Monstaliner is much better, doesn't chip and flake off like even proper prepped Herculiner often does.

I took on the task of this, but let me assure you that its going to cost more then 50$ and I was having trouble with seeing the roller marks but if you thin too much then you don't cover at all. Ended up using the rustoleum paint and thinned it down with acetone and bought a spray gun off amazon and went to town, super happy with the paint job

Before rims and just fresh out of the garage.

Then with rims, headache rack, but paint looks funny on the box. But box is wet that's why. Turned out really good. IMO

The top of my 97 had the clear coat gone and the paint was down to primer in lots of places up there. After taking the paint down I got some Rustoleum very close to my PR4 factory red and went 50/50 with mineral spirits and a foam roller. I would roll, let it cure all day, then wet sand. I repeated this 6 times taking all week then used a cutter then polished it out. It looks better than the rest of the truck. It would have been easier and faster to have sprayed but I don't have the equipment. I don't think it would have looked any better if I did spray.
