Default fuel filler neck replacement

I have a 1998 ram 1500; I want to replace the fuel filler neck, which I have. I can access it OK, but I am leery of the connection of the rusted out pipe to the rubber hoses coming from the tank. I DO NOT want to damage the hoses and it is a limited space area to work in. I DO NOT want to remove the bed or the tank. I thought of soaking the connections with WD-40 and try to ease the pipes out of the hoses. Any suggestions?

WD-40 is the wrong stuff for that. PB Blaster would work much better.

What you really need, is a booger picker. Makes hose removal MUCH easier, and doesn't damage the hose. (unless it is already so dry rotted, it needs to be replaced anyway.)

Default Booger picker.

Thanks; I'll try the Booger Picker, my neighbor has them. The hoses seem fine, it's just the rusted pipes now. Hopefully I can get it squared away.

Default Booger Picker. 1998 Ram 1500.

Thanks, the BP worked, along with several dousing of lubricants.

I have the main neck set up, but the overflow is a little tougher because the pipe broke inside the rubber hose to the tank. I cut off a piece of the hose and I am into the lube stage. I'll spray it a few times and in a few hours I should be home free. It's a pretty tight work area.

Thanks again.

Could always just crush the hose that has the broken off pipe in it. The hose will get over it, the pipe will come out easier.

I'm not prepared to do that, yet.
