Default Catalytic converter

My 2001 Dodge 20 502 Wheel Dr. or 5.9 L 360 started making a knocking noise out of the exhaust. Could this be the converter?

I tried to fix your question but I have no idea what you are trying to communicate in the first part of the sentence, at any rate, is the noise coming from the converter area?

If you hearing some sort of a rattle from the catalytic converter, then its dead, get a new one. If your getting a fluctuating air exhaust sort of sound, check your idle, if your idle isn't consistent, then i wouldn't be surprised if its misfiring or a sensor is out. Do you get any codes? is the sound coming just from the your exhaust or is the truck shaking? need more details man

I think he's saying he has a 2 wheel drive Dodge ram with a 5.9 gas motor. I believe he's asking if the knocking sound (that he hears through his exhaust) his truck is making is his catalytic converter, or if he's hearing his engine making a noise and the noise is coming through the exhaust system.

My cat is definitely bad. But it doesn't affect my performance. I can hear it rattling when I start it up cold. It's not affecting anything so I didn't fix it yet. .. I think the honey comb loose from the mounts. But my suggestion would be crawl underneith your truck and bang on the cat with a rubber hammer . You'll know right away if it's loose inside
