Default 2001 Ram power window

I have a 2001 Ram 2500 drivers power window will go down with no problem, frequently when I try to put the window up, I have to repeatedly move the switch for it to go up. I think the switch is bad, how should I check this. It has the express down feature on the drivers window switch which does work.

thanks in advance for any help.

Moved to the correct section. Try lubricating the window tracks.

Actually the window track has nothing to do with the motor not being powered, I can continue to wiggle and jiggle the up side of the switch and the window will close as fast as it opens.

Thanks for the idea tho.

Sorry. Misunderstood. On my 97, the switch could be taken apart and the internal contacts cleaned. Not sure if the 01 is similar.

It's probably the motor. Brushes wear out and don't make contact causing the window not to move. Hold the up/down on the switch and smack the door panel with your fist, If the window starts to move it's most likely the motor.

I have a 2001, both window cables eventually got frayed and jammed up, had to replace. Common problem it seems but not sure if thats actually the issue for you
