Thumbs down Headlights shut my truck off?

I have a 2002 Dodge 24 valve, it starts, and runs smooth; until you turn on the lights. Also, the blower fan is not working. It gives the codes #P1693 and P1689.
Please help asap. Thank you.

Then something has to be shorting out somewhere, that is killing the engine. You can download the factory service manual from this thread. Wiring diagrams are in section 8W. Need to figger out what you are losing when you turn the headlights on...... since everything I know about diesels is written on the inside of my left eyelid, that's about all the help I can be.

Welcome to DF!

Something shorting to ground interrupting signal to PCM?

I would inspect your headlight switch and wiring at the switch, and also figure out why the blower isn't working - bad blower resistor? Does it only work on full or not at all?

I've got so many wiring schematics running through my head I can't remember what's what, but it might be Dodge that I'm thinking the switch operates on the ground side, in which case if you're losing ground behind the cluster it might explain both issues.
