I'm getting a used tailgate, mine is separated at the bottom from rust. I can get a good used one, but mine doesn't have that trim - and I don't like it. I assume its just glued on, but want to make sure there aren't holes in the gate to attach that trim. Anyone know how that trim is attached?

Double sided tape is the answer. Heat gun and a putty knife removed it, then a LONG time trying to get it free of glue. When I bought it, I thought - well at least the bottom should be dent free.... WRONG.

 

Thanks for the discussion on the lower tailgate trim. I have to swap my lower tailgate trim to another tailgate that I recently had painted, so this is timely and helpful.

 

Not too shabby for single stage PPG omni. Next time, rust *and* dent free is the way to go !
