Question Air conditioner not working right, need help

98 Ram 1500, 5.2L auto 2wd.
While driving down the road sometimes my ac compressor shuts off. It started blowing hot air and I was able to pull over and pop the hood. The compressor was off. Drove a little while longer and the compressor came back on and the air blew cold like normal. What would cause this?

thanks in advance for the help.

sorry it's been a while. The freon level is good. Thought it might be low pressure switch, but when it went off, I jumped the wires and it didn't come back on.

Not sure what to check next.

thanks

See what pressures look like when it quits. Might have a clogged up orfice tube..... so high pressure switch cuts off the compressor.
