Default Annoying steering

Hi guys,

I can't seem to track down what is making some rattling sound in my steering.

Socks bolts are good, all tie rods are new, transmission support is new to.

I noticed that when I accelerate or get on the breaks it feels like something is steering, acceleration, and retracting and it makes that rattling, creaking sound. Any idea? Does the steering column slide shaft can move that much and be where the sound is coming from? I wedge zap strap in the gap between the two shafts with no result. Any chance it could be loose internal in the steering gear box?

Thanks... It was a quick copy/paste... I guess the .com didn't come along for the ride... it has now been corrected.

Default Steering Play

Stock 1996 Ram 1500 2wd 5.9L 105,000 miles.
The only problem I have with steering is "play". Not much...just enough to be wary at highway speeds...maybe an inch or so from center...either direction.
So, I ordered the new RockHard steering bushing/fix. Not here yet...I'll keep you posted.

Good point Hey You! And..with the steering shaft coupler/u-joint off...which is necessary to install the new Rock Solid column bushing...any play from there to the steering box input shaft will also be apparent.
Steering play/wobble can be difficult to track down.
Isolating, and checking each component from the column shaft down to the ball joints and wheel bearings is a good start. Incremental, small amounts of "slop" in any/all pieces of the puzzle can add up.
