20%
Most trucks and SUV's are 20% behind the drivers seat. Many States require maximum of 35% on front windows. Because of the additional light coming through the front windshield the front windows will always look lighter then they are even if they match the rear. 20% will match closer but may be illegal for your application. It's been my experience that trucks and SUV's are rarely check by troopers with a light meter and even fewer of them understand the law themselves. To avoid any issues some states have a medical exemption for sensitive eyes (photophobia) which allows you to tint darker provided you have a copy of your doctors note in the cab. I have such a note and run 5% Limo tint and despite being pulled over for other violations my truck window tint has never even come up. I also had a Tuner car in which I was repeatedly pulled over for tint. I think the cars, especially Tuners are given higher scrutiny based on stereotype profiling.

So I would need ~52% tint to get me in the ballpark of 28%VLT.
As I've read, the test equipment used to check the VLT% has an accuracy tolerance of +/-4%, so typically it is a warning, unless you're under 24%VLT, at which you're definitely beyond the limit.

I'd be lucky if the back is 80%VLT from the factory... and maybe 85-90%VLT on the doors.
18-20%VLT is illegal, even here in FL.
I'm going with 30%VLT on the doors, and 15%VLT on the back and AS1.
