Well the truck currently has a 3 inch lift. I'm just looking around for a softer ride since it needs new leafs and shocks anyways. Things a ball buster off road

to get rid of that harsh ride you are going to have to get long arms. reason being simply put is geometry. when you lifted your truck 3 inches with the stock length arms, they are at a vertical angle resulting in a harsh ride especially when off road or hitting bumps in the road. long arms will have your truck riding like a Cadillac.

as i mentioned before, bds makes some of the best suspension kits on the market. add fox shocks and you will love love it!! i know i do

I was gonna argue with Brandon about short arms, but his truck is so sexy in that pic, I lost my will....

Actually, I'm better. A 3" kit just hardly benefits from a long arm. I'm sure it could a little, but I've never seen one made under 5". My truck has been on the Skyjacker 3" kit for over 5 years now and has settled down and rides very nicely. The AAL outback is the cat's meow for me. (My truck got a 4-leaf pack, not the 5-leaf in most 1500s.)

Also, tire pressure!!!!!!!!!!!! is a huge factor. If I have 40psi in my 285s (E rating) it rides like squishy car, but too soft. If I put 50 in, holy rock wheel batman! But when I hook up the trailer and load up the truck, I put in about 65 and it rides very nice since the load is using the suspension. So I would start with psi and then decide how much money to spend on the lift. Again, if you're going to spend for Long arms, get a 5 or 6 lift so you can look like Brandon's!

I'm goin to end up most likely with skyjacker. It seems the most feasible for me. Comes with all the components for install. I may look into new track bar later though to recenter my front axle.
The skyjacker kit comes only with lower control arms. Would that be a problem? Should I look into getting uppers as well? Or go with rough country and rear leafs from skyjacker. As the rough country comes with uppers and lowers

Actually, this was discussed a ton back about ten years ago when everyone still had 2nd gens....sometimes its good to be old...ha!

The 3" lift does not move the axle enough (back) to warrant longer control arms. The replacement arms for a 3" lift are actually STOCK length, just stronger. Once I realized this, I just ordered them for the poly bushings and grease zerks. You will have to adjust the caster using the bolts on the CAs since the geometry has been moved (from stock) but you already have a lift so just use whatever its set at now.

The upper CAs are a bit more difficult to replace but again, for just 3", not required. I left mine stock.
