99 ram headlight problem

Default 99 ram headlight problem

dim headlight and high beam indicator stays on and no fogs when lights are on.I get fogs in parking light mode.took the steering colum apart and fixed a wire there but no change.im guessing its a ground problem.switch, relay and fuse good.where should I start looking

Check the connector at the back of the switch. The switch actually provides the ground path. Given your symptoms though, I would be real tempted to replace the dim bulb.... may simply be shorted internally.

there was 9007 in it.I changed to 9004 and the work but on low beam the pass side is high beam and drivers is low.when I turn high beem on it changes them opposite.

One of them is the wrong bulb.

9004 and 9007 are wired differently.


Maybe someone swapped the wiring to use the 9007

if I put 9007 in it I dont get low beam,and high beam is dim and the high beam indicator stays on. im gonna check wiring at sockets tomorrow and wire them correctly for 9007.dont 9007 bulbs produce more light?

9004 = 45watt low (700 lumens), 65watt high (1200 lumens)
9007 = 55watt low (1000 lumens), 65watt high (1350 lumens)

The two orient differently, so shouldn't be interchanged... use what is supposed to be in there (9004), and get that to work.
