Default My Ram has broken Control Arm Mounts on the Solid Front Axle

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 99 ram 1500 4x4 as a project. The front axle where it mounts to the control arms has broken away, helped by rust, and the whole axle is sitting crooked and the truck is not able to be driven.

Has anyone had this problem?

My main question, can I get new mounts (I believe they would have to be welded on) or do I need to find a complete used front axle?

If it's rusted that bad, there's not much else to do but cut away all the rust and weld in new metal.

This.

I seem to recall another member had this issue recently as well.... I don't think the mounts are commonly available any more, and you will need to fab some up.

Yeah i believe his issue was his welder wasn't up to the task of welding thicker material. And it didn't help trying to weld to rust. Can you post a pic? You most likely will have to fab one up and get it welded on. Might also want look at the condition of the others.

Just pick up a front Dana 60 from a 2500 off criagslist. Bet it would cheaper than paying for shop time for prep, material and welding.
