Default Lowered truck gas tank problems HELP!

1996 2wd 5.9L, lowered 4/6. I have scraping issues with the stock gas tank. Everything else clears, but high speed bumps etc really don't like me.

Is there a longer / thinner tank that I can install underneath the truck?

Is there a fuel cell alternative on the market?

What type of mods need to be made to the pump / neck / sending unit?

Thanks in advance, guys.

There IS a longer tank, but, it is higher capacity, so, same depth.

I think your best bet is going to be a custom tank.... Which is also going to mean custom pump, and sending unit for the gas gauge.. Maybe a custom sensor, and an external fuel pump? Keep in mind, the stock fuel system is NOT a return style, and pressure at the rail is kinda important.... So, may need a high pressure regulator, with a return port on it......

By custom, did you mean under the truck or fuel cell in the bed? Do you know where any of these products can be found?

Either way would work. Summit, Jegs, and most any other 'performance' parts dealer could get you a fuel cell in various sizes.... probably complete with sending unit. I guess I am just more inclined to keep my bed space usable, so, mounting under the truck would be my first choice.

Oh ok. Yeah, probably buying an eco-diesel soon for any work needed. This is more of my tuning toy that is a daily driver until I decide where to buy the new truck. I was just concerned that the hardware on a fuel cell wouldn't work well with the stock pressure, ohmic requirements, and filler neck.

Oh, don't get me wrong, there WILL be some Fab work involved. Going with some standard size fuel cell though, will make life easier.
