95 Dodge Ram Brake Upgrade
Hello,
New here and inherited a 95 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD from my Father-in-Law and would like to upgrade my brakes without the use of an aftermarket kit; and possible drums?
Questions:
Can I use later model rear disc brakes, say 2001, or swap entire rear axle that is already fitted; just wondering?
Can the same be done with the fronts in regards to the previous question?

You *might* be able to upgrade the front calipers to the single-piston 3/4 ton units..... I know it works on 4x4's, not sure about 2wd though.
For the rear, fair few folks install 3/4 or 1 ton wheel cylinders...... I am not aware of an easy disc brake conversion.

I guess if I have to on the Drums. Crap, I was hoping to not have drums on the rear. Hmmm...
If only. So ridiculous that other vehicles, like the 95 Mustang I need to sell, have no problem doing upgrades on the inexpensive side.
There's nothing wrong with drums, just more of a pain to service i guess. I put in 3/4 ton cylinders, its a nice upgrade

I guess I could do that until I rebuild my rear end or get the brake kit when I rebuild the rear-end. hmmm...
I'd do the wheel cylinder upgrade (I did on my truck). If you really want rear disc brakes on your truck, you either need to find a 2001 Dana 60 axle with rear disc and swap that, or you can buy a drum to disc conversion kit such as http://www.4wheelparts.com/Brakes-an...t_pn=SSBA158BK
