Default AC parts/repairs under the dash?

So next up on my project list is to install a LMC replacement dash and a new bezel as well, as both of mine are in 10+ pieces. When I purchased the truck, the previous owner stated that a shop told him that the AC needed a part replaced under the dash, and that it required removal? I'm just checking if there are any parts I should install or test before I pop the new dash in

Evaporator core, and heater core. Do 'em both. Save you having to repeat the process at some later date.

Perfect, thank you. That was my plan, same as with doing the plenum. While I'm in there, I'd rather replace any prone failures now rather than tear it apart later. What about the blend door, is that accessible from underneath? And actuator?

What year is your truck? You will see the door when you have the box apart to do the cores. Actuator is on 00 and up trucks, I think, and is accessible even with everything put together.

It's a 2001. The air blows semi cold, feels like it needs a recharge, but the previous owner said that after awhile that it will just cut out and spew warm or hot air. I haven't experienced it yet myself though. I just figure go with the MAWs "might as wells"

Will definitely itely order the blend door fix, I had been looking at those. And I'm going to charge the ac, and then see what happens. I'd really love to not have to rip out the entire dash to do the heater core and evap, but it seems like the evap is a problematic source in these trucks. Does the entire hvac box need to be removed for it? And my blower motor does seem a bit noisier than normal

It may not *have* to be.... but, I am going to bet it makes it a whole lot easier having it out of the truck to deal with it.

Blower motor is easy to get to even with everything still in the truck, so, you can inspect it while it's out, but, if you decide you want to leave it, and maybe change it later, its not really a problem.
