Default 1999 Dodge Ram p1765

Hey guys been awhile since I posted on here. Picked up a 99 ram for 500 bucks. Has a p1765 code, Governor Pressure Sensor.

When the truck is cold everything shifts fine and dandy, when it heats up O/D and third are eventually lost. 1st and 2nd are still there but they have intermittent shift problems. Shifting on the column seems to work every time. Now the sensor might have been replaced before not sure if it was but the previous owner said it was.

Before I go dropping the pan to replace the sensor and solenoid, is there any other diagnosing I can do?

When I replace the GPS and solenoid any other parts I can replace just in case? Brand suggestions? ATF and Filter have been changed

Other than the shifting the truck runs like a top.

Anyway good to be back on here, I also have a first gen cummins I'll take some pics and post em up for you guys tommorow.

Drive it till everything is nice and warm, and it starts acting up. At that point, unplug the 8 pin connector on the trans. It's about halfway back, on the drivers side. Go for a short, slow, drive. Keep in mind, you will have zero automatic function, you will have to shift gear manually. (start in first, etc.) If the trans shifts into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, it just an electronic problem. If the problem persists, you have bigger fish to fry.

Nice to see ya again.

Edit: Keep in mind, TCC, and O/D are both electronically controlled, so, they won't work while running this test.

So I can shift it manually from 1st to 2nd with the 8 pin unplugged. Seems like a electronic problem.

Any suggestions on what paths to take? GM GPS conversion? Any suggestions welcome.

Go with the Borg-Warner heavy duty governor solenoid. For about a 100 bucks, you can get it, with a new pressure sensor as well, and it is a direct swap. For the gm conversion, I think its more like 250 or so.

You can get the BW stuff from Ebay.
