Default charging system

Hey I am new to this .I just change my engine in my 2000 dodge ram 15004x4 5.9 I leave to go to work the next morning and my light are dem .a mile down the road my components shut off .so I swing back home .off the the top of my head I thought it was my alternator. Cuz I got a new battery. Still the same problems .they tell me its my (pcm).but on my voltage regulator I have a green.&a white blue wire that doesn't connect to anything. I am nervous about changing my (pcm)and that's not the problem

Voltage regulator is internal to the PCM. (not chryslers brightest idea.....) What does the volt gage have to say? Had the alternator tested?

What's the alternator output when the engine is running?

I think I was running off the battery because the alternator wouldn't kick on

Huh? Your alternator is always "on" when the engine is running.

This ^^. Your alternator is always "on" if the engine is running and the belt is turning the pulley. Put a meter on your battery posts with the engine running. What is the voltage?

Might want to check the fuse in the distribution box in the engine compartment. I believe it's a 120 amp fuse.

Voltage regulators fail. It's an electronic part.... nothing new under the sun there. The fact that it is part of the PCM just makes it a MUCH more expensive fix.
