Default Rear axle play

I removed the differential cover and took video. Is there any way to upload it so that people can view it and tell me if it's TOO excessive?

Best bet is to upload it to someplace like photobucket, and then just imbed it here. (use the media button in the post editor.)

Nah. That looks pretty normal. (yes, it does *seem* like a lot. )

If you are really paranoid about it, pull one of the clips, and measure it with a micrometer, then do the same for a new one at the parts store. A couple thousandths isn't going to make much difference there.

Cool. Thanks. Having a weird anomalie with some noise. It didn't happen all the time. If I turn the steering wheel slightly to the left or right while going forward or reverse very slow, I get a weird noise/vibration coming from back there. I can't pin point it. It happens sporadically and only when turning the steering wheel slightly.

Make sure your rear diff has the LSD additive in the fluid. I like to get the gear lube without it, and a bottle of the additive, so I know for a fact I have enough in there.

For what it's worth I have the exact same axle play in my rig, and dealing with a similar issue of rear differential noise clicking/vibration. The LSD has been finicky since replacing with an Auburn Gear posi. I was worried about the axle play and glad to hear another opinion that it is pretty normal. My tire guy said the same thing but thought I'd check here for anyone else's input.

I'll be calling the vendor on the posi unit to get their feedback and will post any details.
