The cad system, with a bit of attention, actually works just fine. Make sure all the vacuum lines are in good shape, blow the water/dirt/assorted other crap out of them, and it will engage/disengage almost instantaneously.

I was forced to do that to mine.... It froze up, and got me stuck.... So, stuff it in the garage, point the torpedo heater at it for an hour, blow out the lines, fix the leaks, and it works great.
Where do the lines lead to? Tomorrow I may go out and start pulling stuff, it still needs to dry up some though

As for my fuel leak, of course it's back between the tank and the frame rail somewhere I had the truck on for 15-20 minutes periodically checking for leaks and right after I shut it off I could finally see it. Wish I could have got the bed off though
O2 sensor looks to be hell to get to and I'm not looking forward to doing it now lmao. Ahh my problematic truck

Looks like previous owner ran a brake line to the back and its got unions in it so eventually I'm gonna have to replace that too

Reality check: Two thousand dollars worth of pickup truck is doing remarkably well if it can reach highway speed before the seats fall through the floor.

The CAD lines go back to a vacuum switch on the transfer case. They're not hard to follow if you've got light and room enough to move around.

Yeah i know I spent way to much. Lmfao
But included in that price is a brand new battery, a brand new alternator so essentially I paid 1700 roughly for the truck

But yeah I'll check everything tomorrow yay fun

You didn't spend anywhere near enough. The market value of a 2nd generation Ram in good repair, if you can even find one, is a helluva lot more than two grand.

Cheap pickup trucks are like cheap women: You only want one until you've got one, and for much the same reason.

Well I still have to get new doors, some dents fixed, rusted rocker panels fixed, rusted bed arches fixed
Get the underside fixed, tires, exhaust. Get the right seats put in the front

But my dash isn't cracked yet

Don't despair about that. It'll fall apart when you go to replace the heater core.

I'm guessing that 1996 was your year of birth? If so, you're right on schedule to have a worn out pickup truck. I was 19 when I bought a 1966 Chevy 3/4 ton fleetside longbed which was about the same age then as my Ram is now, and it was one of the few times that life ever sold me a valuable lesson at a reasonable price. It wasn't really a bad truck or a bad deal on it even having cost me more to restore it to good repair than I'd been prepared to spend, but my Air Force paycheck wouldn't put tires on the thing unless I moved into the barracks. There ain't nothing I've ever wanted more than to avoid living with a bunch of punk *** kids who don't know they ain't grown up yet and stand no chance of getting there while on Uncle Sugar's payroll, so I reluctantly let the thing go. As much as I'd love to have it back in the condition it was in when I let go of it, I've never thought it an unwise choice.

I haven't run the numbers lately because it just doesn't matter enough to me to do it, but I'm right around $12k into my truck including everything that's not fuel, routine maintenance, insurance or registration. That's a lot of money for a truck that's old enough to vote, but I just asked my wife a few minutes ago what she'd say if someone walked up the driveway right now and offered $20k for it. She said, GTFO and don't come back. And this is a woman who knows I'm fixin' to spend another three grand next month on bumpers and lights.

When a woman that good thinks your truck is that good, you're living right. Ain't no way to get that right except by either stunning good luck or having had an old pickup truck that came but wouldn't stay cheap.

I hope to not have to replace the heater core any time soon, I like having a nice dash

Two vehicles I miss more then I should, but I've come to realize it was time for them to go

I had a 84? (Maybe 86) ram two tone cream color on top brown in the middle, cream on bottom, beautiful truck I loved it and there was so many memories in that truck that I'll never be able to get back, I was dating this chick and found out that she had been cheating and had gotten knocked up by the guy, 2 years wasted (started dating her at 16 broke up at like 18 and some change). Got really pissed and sped off in the truck redlined it in every gear poor 318 didn't like it once I cooled down and in my way home the oil pump went out, I thought my gauge had just crapped out nope engine was toast metal shavings in the pan, metal imbedded in the bearings, smoke posting out the front main she was toast

Second vehicle I miss maybe a little more than that, I had a 03 eclipse with the 4g64 in it, had it bored studded and it would hold 35psi easy beautiful car fast as all get out I just kept running into the law with it because it was loud low and fast ended up trading it for the old ram..

I had a Trans Am that I loved, but, it too, was VERY hard on my drivers license....... I couldn't do ANYTHING wrong without officer UNfriendly being RIGHT THERE to give me a ticket.... 2 years driving 80 miles a day, and 23 points on my license later..... I decided I need to start driving something else. So, put the TA in the garage, pulled the motor, and sold it. Bought a 1981 Chevy Luv 4x4, and drove that for a while. It had carb issues, so, speeding was difficult.... Still an all, I managed to drive to Orlando and most of the way back, without issue..... till I was less than 10 miles from home, and got pulled over in a little hick town, at 3:00AM, for doing 30 in a 25..... Yeah. 5MPH...... and this was in like 92, 93...... The cops there were truly ****. I just wanted to get home, and go to bed.
