Default transmission troubles

I have a 2000 ram 1500 4wd and the OD light came on the other day and after 5 to 10 Mins the trans temp light came on. is shifting fine but no OD so change the filter and fluid and there was no trash in pan. and no codes to be seen and this is the second time the filter has been changed and only have 141000 miles on and still drives. Don't want to burn it up and when light is on don't have OD. Thanks for some help.

On the cooling line running TO the radiator, (bottom fitting) there is a check valve, get rid of it. Will more than likely solve your problem. There are a couple DIY's for just such an exercise in the FAQ section here.

Its in the line right before the radiator, right where it changes from steel, to flex line. There is a knobby bit of metal, that's it. They like to clog, and prevent ALL flow.... and the trans gets a bit warm that way. You can just take the section of line off, drill out the check ball, clean the line out good, and then put it back on. Need the special release tool for 3/8ths line though. Other end is just a flare nut.
