Default 9.25 questions

I have my spare differential tore apart. It had an open carrier. I am putting a factory track lock in with new clutches and clips. I'm also replacing the axle bearings and seals. One bearing looks like it may have spun a little bit at some point but was still tight in the axle tube.

Should I put the axle repair bearings in or standard replacement bearings with retaining compound? Looking a little bit at the repair bearings look like the seal is on the inside instead of the outside?

Also can somebody point me in the direction of the correct bearing for my 2001 9.25 axle? Seems there are a few different options.

I am also replacing the pinion seal and removing the crush sleeve in favor of a crush sleeve eliminator.

Get the numbers off the old bearings, and just get a new set.

Some compound sure wouldn't hurt......

The bearings get their lube from the axle tubes. I am thinkin' having the seal on that side, you would eat the bearings in pretty short order.

That's what I figured but I have seen sealed bearings in rear axles as well. I'd prefer lubed bearings though. L see if I can find a part number

Why put a stock track lock in? Troublesome and unreliable, Eaton trutrack would be a better route

Not by much though iirc. And not having to deal with the headache of stock units, worth it IMO. Again this is my opinion though.

I decided to go with the factory limited slip because it's affordable to rebuild, affordable to buy and is better than an open diff. Also I don't beat the crap out of my truck. If I have to tear it apart to put clips in every 50-75,000 miles so be it. That'd be once every 8-10 years for me.
