Default Truck wont run right

I have a '95 Dodge Ram 1500 and recently had a firing problem. When I grounded the spark plugs, there was no fire, I replaced several things over a couple of months and ended up finding out that it was the Ignition Module. When I started to crank it up, keep in mind it has been sitting for a while now, the truck wouldnt start or stay running unless I kept the gas pedal to the floor. Even then the entire truck would shake and shudder and slightly back fire and would only hit 1k RPMs (With the pedal completely pressed to the floor). Any advice?

What engine?

Ignition module?? Suspect you are using the wrong term here.... Where was this item located?

When was the last time the truck ran right?

Its a 5.9 V8, and not the ignition module but the camshaft position sensor inside the distributor. The last time my truck ran right was about 3 1/2 months ago.

Try pulling the front O2 sensor out of the cat. See if the engine will rev a bit more freely. (ok, you have a 95, so you only have the one O2 sensor.... makes it easy to figure out which one. ) Be prepared for it to be a BEAR to get out. Chems, and a pipe wrench worked for me.

Just out of curiosity, how would an O2 sensor cause this problem?

You aren't testing the O2 sensor, you are testing the catalytic converter. If the engine runs better with the sensor out, that points to a clogged cat.
