Default Transmission Odd Question

So this is about my younger sisters truck who has a mutt 96 1500. So basically after she blew her engine, and got a new one, she ruined her transmission. So currently shes got an 01 5.2L in and she just got a new transmission. The transmission bolted up fine but it seems to be a larger one from like a 3500 or something and has a different tailshaft and thats causing problems putting the rest of the truck back together in the rear. What are her options? Would swapping it out for a V6 tailshaft work? She said the problem is the length?

Edit: From what I saw it was originally on a 5.9 from 1995? I say this because the TC it came with had the weights on it, as opposed to them being on the flexplate of later years.

Have a driveshaft shop shorten the tube if it fits otherwise.

Was the 95 truck a V6?
If yes then original transmission was 44RH(or 42 or something) if i remember right.
One you've got from the 01 is a 46RE. They are little different but it should work if all your electrical harness plugs in. Try finding parts for the larger transmission(yoke, etc) and then just get a drive shaft.

I appreciate the reply, Turns out the Transmission they just swapped in is an RH and hers was an RE, so it wont work anyways! BTW! The 01 transmission you're referring to was NOT swapped over when the engine was, since at the time her old transmission was fine. And no, the engine was a 5.2L V8 originally and she blew it to bits, so just bought another and swapped it in. Also the 2001 wiring wouldn't fit the 95 if you had tried to swap the transmission also.

ANYWAYS this question is now IRRELEVANT so just disregard this thread lol

An RE in a 95? That seems strange, considering the RE's didn't start coming in trucks until 96.....

That's my bad!!!! I put her truck as 95 because I was thinking about the transmission year! Her truck is a 96, not a 95, thanks for catching that xD
