Flashing CEL indicates misfire. Misfire under load indicates a either weak ignition, or, incorrect mixture...... If your plenum hasn't been fixed yet, this IS one of the symptoms of it being blown. Of course, just about any vacuum leak would cause the same problem....

So, start by looking at the easy stuff. Plugs/wires/cap/rotor. (yeah, the cap/rotor can indeed be a pain.)

Check the plenum. (see stickied thread at top of this forum.)

Go from there.

Ok was wondering if it would be transmission related .. Since I'm still trying to figure out the crank / cam sensor problem could that be related

Nope. although, the engine running stupid DOES make the trans feel stupid.

Cam or crank sensor could give you a miss. I would lean more toward crank sensor though, as the cam sensor only tells the PCM what cylinder is where once per crank revolution. It's a simply hall effect switch, on for four cylinders, off for four cylinders. Clues the PCM which cylinder is *next* (1 or 6) by the switch changing state. If it was going bad, the engine would run REALLY stupid.
