How long does it take to actually remove a 5.9?
Iv been tossing the idea around a out looking and buying a stock 5.9 for my 99 ram. The point of me buying one is to go ahead and rebuild it and add on a few bolt ons. But I'm curious as how long it takes to actually pull the motor? I can do an older chevy in around 2 hours but haven't messed with anything this new as far as pulling the motor.
The process is pretty much the same.... disconnect all electrical, torque converter bolts, bellhousing bolts, exhaust, power steering (either the lines, or, the whole bracket and pump) a few vacuum lines, loosen the engine mount bolts (no need to completely remove them) and out it comes. If you are in reasonable health, have a clue, (which you apparently do.
), and things 'go well'..... 2 to 3 hours is a reasonable guesstimate.
