Default Is my Shift Cable going bad??

When I shift from park to drive it's not going into drive sometimes lately. i have to go past drive then back into drive to get it to catch, or sometimes back to neutral then into drive seems to work.

Is it the shift cable? Adjustment?

No cable. Mechanical linkage. There are bushing that wear out, break, and disappear over time. I think they are even still available. Replacing them, and readjusting the linkage will more than likely take care of the problem.

I scored a package of them at NAPA a little while back for cheap. I've already tossed the blister pack they came in so don't have the part number handy, but they were easy enough to spot on the Dorman goodies rack.
