Unfortunately, I think your both right HeyYou and Unreg...

New topic I guess, what do you think of Napa boxes? They're reman'fd by BBB industries and I can't seem to find a lot of reviews on them. Frankly if it isn't Red head or Boregson they're hit and miss from what I read.

As much as I'd love a Red head box, it would cost me a little over $800 to my door in Canada, and thats just not on the table right now..

Any reason I should completely stay away from a Napa reman?

Honestly, if I weren't going Redhead it'd be a NAPA box I'd buy just because NAPA has been my store of choice since my forever began and they've yet to let me down. I'd still perform the adjustment myself before installation just because there's no reason to risk that it came wrong.

I'd replace the pump and hoses, too, because all of the metal that has worn away from the gears has gone into them and the new oil with its new detergent WILL float a lot of contaminants out of their hiding places. There's no sense fouling a new box with the old one's dead innards.

Thanks for that Unreg. Is there an adjustment procedure? I have the FSM but can't find crap myself...

Sounds like I'll be phoning Napa tomorrow.

Take a look at page 19-16 in your FSM. If it's the PDF copy found linked from the FAQ/DIY section, it's on page 1609 of 2889.

Oh yeah, that guy. I don't remember his name either, but I seem to recall him suggesting 4.25 to 4.75 degrees. And I've just spent the last 20 minutes digging through all of my stored PDF's, text files, and three different sets of browser bookmarks trying to find that razzle-frazzin' article. (I've got Marijuana Attention Disorder. I'd have spent two hours at it if I had more places to look.)

Hmmm... I need opinions.
Locally here I can only get a remaned A1 cardone for $360 or a remaned AC Delco for $320... Or a JY OEM unit with "high KMs" for $150. I've read mixed reviews about the Cardone remans, but read horrid things about the AC Delco units...

I'd go for the JY one for now, and quickly save your pennies for the redhead or borgeson.

Unfortunately I don't know how many miles is "high mileage". I'm just concerned it's going to terribly slopping as well

Adjust it up before you install it.....

Or, spend a bit more, and get a Redhead, or Borgeson box. Do it once, do it right, be done with it.... Prices seem a tad steep on those reman boxes......
