Default 1500 Manual trans reverse not engaging
1997 truck with 5 speed manual, 4x4 is just not engaging reverse. All of my other gears work. Any one have any ideas?
It has 197000 kms

Did it just happen one day when you tried to put it in R? OR had it been getting harder and harder to do.




Also NV transmissions are weird, My NV4500 (2500 5 spd) will practically only go into reverse if I put it in fifth then go straight to Reverse at a dead stop.

It happened out of nowhere.
Saturday it was working good.
Yesterday (Sunday) the shifter sits in place (reverse), but nothing happens.

So reverse simply doesn't work? Can you go from neutral, to reverse, without stepping on the clutch?
