Its just basic conversions. 2.54 cm = 1 inch. I assume you know how the numbers work. If not, here it is. LT285/75/r16.....Light Truck is the LT. 285 is the tire width in mm. divide by 25.4 to get inches. 75 is the aspect ratio which is 75 % of 285 likewise 75% of 285/25.4. This is your sidewall height. Then the R is for radial and the 16 is rim diameter. Add the rim diameter to the sidewall height (times 2 because you have 2 sidewalls to account for) and thats it. You're done. The only problem is that you'll find 2 different tire manufacturers calling their tires 285/75/16 but one is taller or wider than the other. A few factors with tire construction contribute to this, but it is irrelavent since tires measured in inches have the same issues.
