Default 5.9l 360 build up

Hey guys, so I recently got a 1998 dodge ram 2500 with a 360 In it. It's got 6 inches of lift running 37 inch tires. It's my daily driver so with this build-up I'd like to get as much power as I could, but power that would be suitable for road use. Not sure which direction to go, was thinking a 408 stroker, but with that comes upgrading airflow, which in the long run might be out of my price range, but is definitely an option. What would y'all recommend? Would start by buying another 5.9 so during building I could still drive the truck. But not sure what I need. Any recommendations and help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you just trying to get it to turn those tires easier? Has it been re-geared? If not, I'd do that first.

I agree with this assessment. OF course, doing all the maintenance, and making sure things are working as they should, should be the top priority. Especially checking the plenum.....

Catch up on the maintenance before dumping money into mods.

It was my dad's truck before mine, it's a real solid truck. We're going to replace the steering gear box and get the rear brake drums turned. Otherwise it's in pretty good shape. Shifts great, handles really nice and there's no noise coming from anywhere on the truck. I'd just like to get a little more power out of it. Doesn't have to be a ton more like stroking it out, just something noticeable..

It's pretty clean and a real solid truck.

Throw some 4.88's in there to compensate for those 37's. That will give you the desired result as well as your trans thanking you down the world. Then if that doesn't quite do it for you start thinking heads/cam/stroker.

That IS pretty.

Don't bother with the stock replacement steering box from the local parts store. May have to go thru several before you get one that is actually better than what you have now. Go for a Redhead, or Borgeson steering box. Much better quality.

Right now it has 3.55's with a Power lock posi differential. Would the 4.88's give it a little more power at the pedal or just alter the top speed?
