Mystery transmission part found in pan. Help!

That anchor falls out when the band adjustment gets way loose. Get a telescoping magnet and hold it in place while tightening up the band adjustment screw.

While in there, check and see how much meat is left on the band. When my anchor fell out my band was all metal and scoring the drum. If you need to get a new band in there without opening it up there is a slip-in band available. I went that route and it works great.

Look at the drum and make sure its surface is smooth and adjust the band approximately 2 turns at the adjusting bolt and you should be good to go...
