Default Speedometer won't go above 30mph

1995 1500 5.2 automatic

Speedometer won't go above 30mph or so no matter how fast you are driving.

Replaced speed sensor which didn't fix.

Otherwise runs great. Checked codes. Only oddball was code 37.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Which speed sensor did you replace?

On your 95, speedo gets its cue from the VSS in the output hosing of the trans/t-case. (2 or 4 wheel drive, respectively) It is gear driven, and must be properly indexed, otherwise, you get strange behavior.

Gotcha. I changed the output speed sensor on the transmission (located on drivers side). Thanks for your help.

Is there another location besides the transmission extension for 2WD?

There is a speed sensor on the rear for the ABS. Does your over drive work? If it does i think the problem may be with the speedo. OD will engage at about 45mph, If the speed sensor was reading wrong it will not engage.
