aftermarket temp sensor

Default aftermarket temp sensor

Hi guys I have a 97 ram 1500 360 my wire to the temp gauge is bad so I want to put an aftermarket sensor and gauge in. I have seen on here that they don't fit stock location and I also seen that people have put them in the heater hose out of the block. today I went and bought a brass T to put it in and its only 1/2" is that big enough or not I think my hose says 5/8" inside. any input would be great and thanks in advance.

Describe "bad". I forget what year they changed from two temp sensors to one but if you have only one it will have to be hooked up to the factory wire. The pcm needs to know the engine temp. In the older trucks there is one for the temp gauge and another for the pcm.

97 has two. Question becomes, which sensor, one-wire, or two-wire sensor.
